feed at the bait and then when Tim and Tom arrived all h*** let loose. In the dark bears growling clacking teeth a 444 Marlin shot ringing through the air to make an agressive boar back off till they got the bear loaded inthe trailer. Oh the excitement of bear hunting. WAy to go Ron!

Keith Casteel Wv May 26, 6pm 6+ft

A big colored bear is what I am here for Tom, Keith says, but when this monster walks out “Grandpap” Keith Casteel know it is a taker. He knows hIs hunting bud Dr. David Samuel who is in the camp also will be proud to know another Pope and Young bear was taken with a bow. Way to go Keith on an awesome trophy!! Well now Judy I just will have to come back to get that Red bear and I know this is the place to do it with all the sightings and photos of harvested Colored bears you have over the past years. I have never been in a camp with this high of a percentage of colored bear in all my years of hunting.

5pm May 25 Steve Lockwood Wv 5 ft blonde

Steve ,the boy of the group arrives for a Manitoba bear hunt. Flinging arrows on Sunday and Monday Am with a positive placement of the arrow. Off to the stand and not more than an hour in the stand and out walks this 5 ft blonde. Well with no hesitation at all he pulls the trigger and off goes the arrow taking this unique bear down. Now 5 pm he has his bear, and another larger black comes and goes from the bait all evening, 2-way radios do not reach his stand so 6 hours later he hears the 700 making its way to pick him up. A lotof washing and the blonde hair glows of this unique Manitoba trophy colored bear.

Week 4 sightings up 50% temps up in 50F

W
WEek 4 4 hunters in camp witha  couple of cancellations, Everyone saw bear, some in numbers of 4-7. Baits are still being hit very hard and the temps have rizen with a slight frost at night.  Hopefully Week 5/last week  will give us a break and we will get tagged out with a day to spare.

May 22 Jim Bean Tx.-Poper strawberry blonde with a bow

Jim does the time and at 8pm he sees this awesome bear moving in towards the bait. He knocks the arrow and the bear presents the shot. His Mathews Switch bait has no problem doing a number on the 5.5ft strawberry blonde. He also has a black face with black hair on his feet. We took a bear of his color in 2001 by on of our Maryland hunters. Jim and MIke have to meet the plane in Grand forks at noon so they will be on the road soon and we could not wait to AM to tkae the photos.  Way to go Jim.

Taking a Good Shot while Taking a Life

Shot placement with a arrow or a bullet is very critical. GOOD HUNTERS donot take the life of an animal if they do not have a good shot. We all know how the adrenilan pumps when we see that awesome trophy just out of shooting range, or walking directly away or towards us, or even through dense underbrush.  While in the stand, and hunting any animal I hope all of us will take the second thought and remember to TAKE A GOOD SHOT> Most outfitters have a draw blood—cut tag rule.

Blonde bear Attach

While Tom is baiting  the Stolen Stand bait he is attached but a huge blonde bear from behind. These holes in his hoody are just a few of the tears he receives fighting off this bear. He very seldom packs a rifle lately as at this bait it has to be carried through swamp in by pail a long way. In past we have always had 2 people go into baits but time, $$$ seem to change our practices. Some very sore muscles, and a very bad scare is a good reminder to  take time , be safe and HEADS Up while in baiting during the Rut in Spring bear season.

Canadian gooslings

While out baiting Judy runs through ditch chasing these 4 little Canada Gooslings just to get another photo. She does not want to get to close because a beating from a gander isnot fun.

Mike M. Tx 5.5ft May 20 9;45pm

Mikes first nite in the stand he hears lots of noices but notheing shows. 2nd nite a huge bear arrives under his stand after 10 too dark to see his pins while waiting for the quad to arrive to pick him up. But 3rd ction packedniteand at 9;45 a 5.5fter presents the shot. He has seen numerous bear come and go one even charging the rifle stand with a  small one feeding and then rushing up a tree. The rut being on, temps rizing from freezing and snow falling sitings at the baits has increased more than 50% since last week. His Mathews switch back  takes down this great bear. Way to go Mike!!

Whitetail shed

Warren is out back at camp and comes in with this nice 5 point shed. He says water is sure deep out back witha large grinon his face.
