Hot dog Duck Shoot

Randy, Ron Jason and I head to the field at 3, set up by 4 and I am wondering if we got the X. 4;10 and over hte tree line they came. What an awesome site. 6;10 we are loaded up and on our way home. 4 limits of Mallards about half of them fully plumbed. Now thats what I call Duck hunting, NOt sure how many I shot but did claim a couple.

Muzzleloader deer hunting

I just dropped these two Kevin the son-in-law and grandson Vinnie off to go sit in the stand to see if Vinnie could get himself a whitetail deer. No luck in the archery season with temps in 80F. He had sat with Grandpa Toma nd only saw 2 doe lay up out about 75 YDS.  Now hopefully with temps dropping he will connect.

Wood hauling

TIm Toms brother oversees the wood hauling  with the bird man/WArren  and Chico. An area farmer did some scrubbing last fall and we are cutting wood for the shop stove. 4-5 cord of wood is needed.
Tom seems to spend a lot of time in shop so it keeps him warm and cozy.

Trumpeter Swans

Scouting one morning I came across this family of Trumpeter swans sitting on a small pond near the side of the road. 3 young birds with 2 big white adults.

Jennie Froze

WE set up for a duck shoot in a wheat field. First flock worked the spread and one JEnnie decided to stay with us. Jason walked near to get her up and out. She never moved just FROZE in the stubble.

5 limits

Laying in uncombined oat swaths made it all the easier. NO blinds to dress just open the swath and put some decs out and flap the flag. LOoks easy from the road when spottingis done and limtis are on the ground but  it makes for some long days after you been at it for 4 weeks already.

13 pound HOnker

WE have been shooting some large birds so decided to way one and this was a good one. Would be nice to know how old it was as it was one of those big OLD HONKERs who come gliding in.

2 bands

Randy and Ron both shot cacklers with band. A covey of Cacklers came in and 2 less flew out and most of them had bands. Way to go Boys

Cold to HOT Oct 18

Oct 11 -10F — Oct 18- 60F  Can you believe it is 60F today after last weekend freezing temps nearly a foot of snow. Freezing fingers and toes and not not needing a jacket and TOO HOT> Mother Nature has a craxzy way with her seasons.

Maybe a nap!!!

Poor fellows after yesterdays hunting in the snow and now today near heat stroke Jason feels he needs to get some shade before birds fly,
