Cook on strike Saturday Nite

Saturday nite Tim and Warren take over the cooking. We need a burger and fries too much good food is not good for the system.  Judy has no problem handing over chores to these to but looks like same amount of smoke is flying from their grill or Judys kitchen!!

Bear Hunting 101

Every new group that comes to camp gets info course allowing them to ask any questions they might have before going to the stand. How to judge the size, shot placement, what to expect, what you should do and Not do.. What we expect of you and what you should expect of us. NO Questionis too small. If you can prevent a wounded bear  and answer any questions we take all opportunities to do it.

Ten point Crossbow

Scott is our first hunter to bring a crossbow to harvest a bear. HE shoots a few shots each day before going to the stand and puts them all on the SPOT

2008 bow shot wound

Phil took this bear May 5 and when we were skinning itout we found the scar tissue from an old archery shot in the lower leg.  Shot placement is a must if you plan to harvest a bear with a bow

2000 chev pickup

Tom and Fudgy go to pickup his 93 gmc after getting a new motor and tranny. However comes home with this.
After 3 motors and trans, new wire harnesess NO RUN However we have hunters arrving on Sunday and need wheels so another hickup of Spring bear and we have a different truck for Judy to likely back into something. Also Fudge now thinks it is her ruck and will not stay out of it.

Bear baiting Dog

Thunder we have to save some meat scraps for the bears. Tims dog rides the 350 withhim and checks out what we are doing when settingout baits. Oil is not the best for the white hair though

How deep is the water?

What a blast spring bear baiting is!! usualy a lot of fun and sometimes the water is very cold if you happen to get swamped but the New 700 Yamaha Griz Judy got this spring does the job of hauling a barrel of oats and grease through places like this. This spring water levels were much higher than usual and the booters were really cold.

Redneck bow press

Todd and Kelly assist Judy with her bow shortening the draw, sighting in the new site but it would have been much easier with some modern technology however in Bear camp you use what you have and we did it fine. Todd a couple of sore fingers but they will have a story to go home with and Judy had another photo. Thanks much!!

Todd and Kelly White. Nv.

Todd and Kelly booked through Bow Hunting Safari Consultants to come to Manitoba for Kelly to harvest a bear with her bow. But Mother nature would not provide and after 6 long nights in the stand they went home empty handed. Logging that many hours Kelly was wondering if she was blinking too much. A great shot at the bear target but no chance to put the blade to a heart beat. They say they will be back!!. Todd and Kelly were great hunters and another couple who we  will welcome back as great friends.

May 11, Scott Mosnoder 5 ft black 6;30pm

The Ten Point crossbow puts this nice black tothe ground. Then Scott has a brown come in and check all out to stay and feed for a while . Scott is our first crossbow hunter to take a bear and wit a good shot it goes only a few yds from the bait.
Congrats Scott on a great Manitoba Bear!!
