Dave arrives at the stand to find blonde hair and bear scat it the tree stand. Ok. This is different. “I usualy use dogs to get the bear in the tree but here in Manitoba I guess the bear just sit there when the hunter is not there”. Second night in the stand 9:15 and this awesome trophy arrives. He has seen many bears while guiding in Az but never the opportunity to take one this color. Another full body mount I expect with a coat like that. Congrats Dave.

Tony returns for his 4th trip to Big Grass. Dave with the video camera and Tony with his new 338 Browning the set up in the stand. 830pm the action starts. 2 small bear blacks and 1 blonde and a larger bear arrive to the bait. Wouldn’t you know it the blonde checks out bottom of Tonys stand and decides to sneak up for a visit. Tony a little excited drops some chew and no stopping , then the remains of his Coke can gets poured on the bears snout and it retreats and back to bait. The bears all leave and another larger bear arrives and Tony pulls the trigger on his 338 and the bear drops less than 20yds from the bait. Saved by a Coke can he now has another Manitoba bear for a nice rug for his Trophy room. He also has the footage of all the excitement while in the stand. Life Member NAHC

Arriving late Sun nite after a long drive , boy I had better see a bear. Well Monday pouring rain, NO SHOW at the gravel pit and Bo is tired and a beer sure tasted good at 11 pm when they got in for dinner. 1 bear on the pole. Tues. Sun shining, and off to the Lost bait. Boy I wonder why lost bait. 6;30pm and from behind the barrel a small bear arrives, grabs a piece of meat and runs off not giving Bo a chance for a shot but it was no as high as the 55 gal barrel. Ok better get ready if this is to happen again. 7;18 and the sound of a shot rings across the meadow and Bo has this nice 5 ft black bear. He never even went anywhere just dropped right there. Now after a few cold ones the night is late but 8;30 am when they call Bo he wonders what is going on, didnt he just go to sleep. Photos at Big Grass are important and Fudge thinks she should get a bit of glory too. Way to go Bo a great bear!

Thad saw Drews photos in May of 07 and thought Ok I need a bear. Soon the time came, many emails to Judy with questions and excitement of the hunt coming. We arrived in Manitoba and we are heading for the stand. Just before 7 I hear a twig crunch and then a movement , “”that is not a squirrel.”” She hesitates and runs to the meat barrels swings and goes out of sight. About 10 minutes later there she is again, IN and OUT fast. Thad raises his 300 Win Mag pulls the trigger , the bear rolls and comes towards the stand, hooks right and crashes to the ground. Then the deep moan. Wow the blood is pumpin. Thad has a hard time believing it all happened so fast.
He now has a great Choc bear for a life size mount for his home in Ohio. Way to go Thad!!
