Just before the trophy raccoon was harvested. and after a lot of laughing we are waiting for last shot to ring out.. Must be a real monster in that shed.. Hunters were watching from their house and Ed was ready to call 911 with all the crazyness going on.. And he had come to this camp to hunt Bear.. Oh my Ed shakes his head and heads off to bed..

this 6.5 ft black looks like it would have a skull score of  19+bc  we will know after 90 days of drying for an official Boone and Crocket score.

Took this photo at one of the baits lasat week good 5 foot shooter bear print must have weighed 200 + lbs by the way he sinks in the mud. Wish I had of seem him I might had pulled the trigger on my 450 on him.. Oh well he will be there next spring and a little larger.. cause the barrel of oats was nearly empty…

Just before John returns for his 2011 hunt he got his 08 bear rug back from the taxidermist.. He arrowed this bear with his Mathews Switchback in his first hunt and returned useing the same bow making a great shot on his 2011 bear.. Good Shooting John.. We hope to see  you again in the near future.

Ed put this big “Hog” as he called it on the ground the other nite. good shooting the bear only went a few feet.. when the guides skinned it out the squared it.. it could have been 14sqft but no sense really pushn it.. it was a great bear.

Todd while sitting at a bear bait has opportunity to capture some great pics,,, First nite in the stand he sees a good bear who skirts the stand but never commits to giving him a good shot with his 450 Marlin.. but this Great Grey Owl makes for a awesome trophy pic.. After 5 nites in the 2 different stands in pouring rain, winds to no telling how fast Todd does not shoot a bear,  However I think the anticipation of harvesting a bear will be enough for Todd to return again with the Jeff, John, and Chris for another Manitoba bear hunt. The print at the last bait was certainly a good print of a bear he would like to put the crosshairs of his 450 Marlin on… Hope to see you soon Todd..

Ed arrives to camp over muddy roads for a black bear hunt but the Color phase is what intrigues him most.. Sunday nite starts the hunt and out to the stand he goes, he is a little leary of hunting from stands but he has made up has mind as long as he can Hug the tree.. UP in stnad settled and ready to hunt.. It is quite warm and he is wondering about all clothes he needs or doesnot need..about 7 pm he hears something and in comes a bear, not a shooter but A Bear.another bear, and another one.. 5 in total but one is THE SHOOTER he towers over others.. Butno shot presented for his 30-06. patiently bears coming and going feeding and the Big Fellow rules who eats and does not..A shot presents it self on the left and darn he hesitates as he wants a gond shot.. then there it is.. click  and a shot rings out, and another, 3 shoots in total.. and No more movement.. then Ed’s heart rushes adrenalin is pumpn hard.. he radios Warren who arrvies shortly.. They decide to try to load it and NOT..they try John on radio and no luck,, Ed has his cell phone.. and he calls Camp.. we need another bide and trailer for this bear.. No answer…leaves a message..then JUdy calls and Tom and Tim are on the Way.. 1:00 am and they return with big Hog to hang him to the pole for tomorrow mornings pics.. Way to go Ed..

Vic returns to take a bear with a new bow, Mathews Z7Extreme looks like Vic will have no problem putting a bear down with this bow.

Manitoba here we come and Houston is ready to hunt  bear in Manitoba.. dinner, a sleelp and shoot the gun and Toms Bear 101.. now I know what to expect and to do when I see a bear.. traveling to the stand we go past Lake Manitoba down some very muddy roads but no problems for the suburban’s and quads.. Up to the stand, and I get settled.. 6;55pm in walks this colored bear , a shot rings through the air from a 300 weatherby and Houston has shot a bear. The bear wheels and comes straight at him,, another shot rings and the bear drops just near the stand… ,,Houston calms a little, smiles, reaches for his 2way, tom are you there, reaches to his pack and has a smoke, and waits.. after a while the guys arrive and we head back to the truck to wait for rest of hunters to be picked up… Now in the morning after pics are taken and the bear is skinned only ONE hole shows in the hide…Houston says “must of hit him in the same hole I reckon”” that’s my story and I am stickn to it… Congrats Houston on a great colored bear.

John  for the second time shooting his Mathews switch back  heads for  a  Big Grass bear stand… John the guide tells him he is seeing a good track at Beekers bait.. Up in the stand, safety harness on because at over 70yrs safety is a must.. 820 and he hears a sound and in walks this bear.. the hair is just shining and it looks like a good adult bear.. He pulls and releases the arrow. The bear turns to the right an ddissappears.. with radio on he says Tom are you there?  Bear down Yes John im here we will be right in.. A little while later Tom and the guides arrive to search for my bear.. as dark falls, flaggin tape on the trail and some trees flashed we leave the area to go get the other hunters.. Next dayJudy Jeff, chris and todd and John enter at the stand and to retrieve johns bear. After finding the trail they see the bear laying just feet from where trees are slashed from the night before.. John is releved and Judy is glad Jeff and Todd are there to help get this black with a good blaze back to the trucks for skinning and a couple pics..
