Guides at work

Big Guides at workAfter getting the hunters in the stand the first priorty is to get a fire lit so hotdogs can be cooked.. Just a thing that must be done when you are waiting for the hunters to shoot… Did we hear your radio.. Ya but we hate to be interupted…LOL..We got to eat, and you have your sandwich with you. Right!!

Wood tick on a Hot tin Stove

wood ticks are not dangerousEvery spring we deal with many woodticks when hunting bears, they are in the grass and get on your clothing and sometimes stick on to your skin, they are on the bears when we load them to the trailers, and our 4 dogs are outside and the ticks geton them also..  if dealt with correctly if they are stuck remove them by pullin them off and a little skin comes too, apply anticeptic cream on bite, or use a hot needle to remove them, they will release themselves without takeing the skinn.. Always apply anticeptic cream to stop infection which migh occur… Here we placed it on stove, high heat kills them, or squishing them also does..

Snowy driving conditions

ON route to bear baiting guys experience slippery roads and land in the ditch.. Warren now has a camera to get a few pics when Judyisnot around.. After much digging and shovelling, they pull the redneck out of the ditch and head back home.. Some great stories to add the the day again

First time bear hunter, Rahn arrives with anticipation of a “”Bear Hunt” Ken and Tim have been filling him full of interesting stories of hunting in Manitoba..Well here he was in snowy conditions, a 5 ft snowgirl and Judy as welcoming committee.. Sitting around table hearing it all wondering if he had really bit off a crazy piece of time… On to the quad him and Tom go, Judy takes a pic, and he goes down the trail.. sitting thinking, many things pass through his mind, looking tothe right to where Tom says trail is he catches a movemnt off the left “” OH a bear””  many times he tries to pick up his gun and the bear bolts out of the bait site.. Judy said you can raise your gun when bear is looking away NOT.. Finally gun up, bear in position and shot rings out bear rolls, Toms said hit hiim again.. No tracking.. another shot and all is quiet.. Tom are you there.. No answer I am sure they will arrive as they should here shots.. 7:20pm Ken Balesterrie Wis May 4

Ken shoots the BearKen returns again with friends who love to hunt. “when it comes in just shoot it” is the advice Ken give.. You want a bear just shoot it.. Most big bears are shot with the amount of patience you have..hunters need to go home with a bear and sometimes smaller bears are taken early and hunter waits to see a monster at dark..SEcond night in the stand Ken gets in the Rambo position and out walks this awesome bear, the sun caught the color and no one would have pass on this bear.  POW and he was down..  Radio on waiting for Warren to answer..in just a short time Warren is there.. Way to go Ken.. Nice bear..
