6:30pm May 4 Tim Gasperretti, Wis
Tim returns to Manitoba with Ken, and Mark on a Bear hunt..Armed with his gun of choice a 450 Rem. he sees a black bear on his way into the stand on the first nite however the bear does not show but he listens to many geese and ducks flying over his stand all evening. His rookie buddies tag out so they are happy..Wed night off to a different stand he settles for the hunt..he saw movement from behind the barrel, as the sun caught the hair on the back of this bear Tim was pumped. The 450 blasts and the bear falls.. This blonde bear with wonderful coat will make a great trophy for Tea bag Tim.. Congrats.
7:20pm Ken Balesterrie Wis May 4
Ken returns again with friends who love to hunt. “when it comes in just shoot it” is the advice Ken give.. You want a bear just shoot it.. Most big bears are shot with the amount of patience you have..hunters need to go home with a bear and sometimes smaller bears are taken early and hunter waits to see a monster at dark..SEcond night in the stand Ken gets in the Rambo position and out walks this awesome bear, the sun caught the color and no one would have pass on this bear. POW and he was down.. Radio on waiting for Warren to answer..in just a short time Warren is there.. Way to go Ken.. Nice bear..
8:55 pm Rahn Smith Wis, May 3
First time bear hunter, Rahn arrives with anticipation of a “”Bear Hunt” Ken and Tim have been filling him full of interesting stories of hunting in Manitoba..Well here he was in snowy conditions, a 5 ft snowgirl and Judy as welcoming committee.. Sitting around table hearing it all wondering if he had really bit off a crazy piece of time… On to the quad him and Tom go, Judy takes a pic, and he goes down the trail.. sitting thinking, many things pass through his mind, looking tothe right to where Tom says trail is he catches a movemnt off the left “” OH a bear”” many times he tries to pick up his gun and the bear bolts out of the bait site.. Judy said you can raise your gun when bear is looking away NOT.. Finally gun up, bear in position and shot rings out bear rolls, Toms said hit hiim again.. No tracking.. another shot and all is quiet.. Tom are you there.. No answer I am sure they will arrive as they should here shots.. Oh ya they are likely eating hotdogs… Quad noise in distance.. here someone comes.. as the quad enters the bait another shot rings out.. Oh Keith must have one also.. Bear in trailer,, Heart still pounding like it has not pounded in many years, Back at truck,, I had no idea what to expect but that was the most rush I have had in a long time… Wow I cannot wait to tell my son and daugher”” Congrats Rahn on your Manitoba Black Bear trophy.. great shooting you must get a little practice in your line of work. Oh lights,, no way,, oh just Judy concerned with fellows getting stuck…Now the bear hunt, dark is getting near, a movement on the left and Wow a colored bear, and a huge black. gun aimed and shot rings out colored bear drops, second shot rings out, bear still thrashes and then expieres, Black bear charges stand, Will it come up…Keith rings shot of in the dirt infront of bear, sounds of the quad and Tom and JUdy arrive.. “Bear is just in trees behind of stand Beware” Tom loads bear Judy grabs pack and down she goes, up and we are off on quad with bear for the rest of the story to be heard at the truck… Congrats Keith on a Great Bear.. Temps warm, sun shines and all is looking good… IN the stand by 4 ish he gets comfortable brings down the you know Rail to lean his gun on and is set.. He hears a noise and prepares for a shot.. out walks a bear OH MY!!.. remembering what Tom had said in bear 101. aim for the shoulder, higher than the barrel.. and he pulls the trigger.. No waiting around for any other thoughts.. the bear rolls and runs at his stand. Mark stands and puts another one in it.. the bear collapses near foot of stand… Wow.. what a rush heart pounding… Mark settles down and calls on the radio.. Warren are you there? No answer.. Well I guess next thing to do is Just sit till someone arrives.. Mark knows all baits are far apart and maybe they cannot hear my call..
