More Chessies in Manitoba at Big Grass

IMG_5997IMG_7023IMG_7010IMG_7036April 10 we tripped to Sheyenne Nd. to pick up this currly little fellow. Tom had to hav a curly Chessy.  Well he is now 3 months old him and Sammy Jo run the house ragged, and He rules the roust. He eats first at the dog dish, and she stands back, and he is nearly tall enough so she cannot stand over him.. it was her game to stand and put her paw on him and hold him down.. No holding down now. He is very strong willed… I think its at Chessy thing…  He has learned that Jazzy is to be left alone untill she wants attention.. Just walk a large circle around her…I always loose with Jazzy…  As usual puppies lots of fun, I always wanted a dog to bring me something to throw. SAMMY is the dog!!!  Of course we hope they will retreive ducks and geese too lol..

Dogs of Big Grass

IMG_7023 IMG_7010 IMG_7036 IMG_5997BEar our last east aditon to Big Grass comes from North Dakota? Tom said No more Puppies.  Wow, in 3 months we have 2 well. He thought we needed a Curly one like Old Bud used to be.. As if that makes a deifference. But Sammy and He have become friends Hazzy is a little off her happy self. Tunes these kids in regularly. But all in good fun

Manitoba Spring bear Yahoo!!!

imageimageFrench fri grease for grease pads, oats and grease in barrels, fresh scent in the air, as an attractant, and a pile of fresh meat scraps to spread the word that the Diner is open at Big Grass. Every year we dump gallons of oil and pounds of meat for the Bears offering a good reason for those huge Bruins to frequent the bait sights giving our hunters a opportunity of a good Manitoba Trophy.

Spring Black Bear baiting

imageimageimageBear baiting done. Wow snow, water, mud, dust, sun, clouds, rain, wind  all in one day. You never know what kinda day you might hav in the woods.  But great part of spring bear baiting was the frost was still on the ground in the spruce swamps which made the Job much easier.  A little sign showed but not much, with temps freezing most nights the bears are not really moving and looking for food.

Portia Marsh Boardwalk

imageimageimageTime out for a little site seeing. Portia Marsh is a unique waterfowl staging area for ducks geese and many different water birds. We took time to View info plaques, and just enjoy the view Mnaitoba has to offer.

Russell Manitoba the place to be!

IMG_5864IMG_5860IMG_5861IMG_5880Can you believe all these photos? What would we do without our Iphones? 50-60 mph winds blows the flag straight out, then driving along and within 1 mile we went from not snow to 4 inches and in 10 miles 12 inches,, Connies Drive in it the place to be March 31 in gusting winds the customers are lined up for burgers, chicken, fries, and soft ice cream!!  and the last one a cyclest in Manitoba is a Chilly ride with temps dip to 10-25F during the day. then gusting winds but he had the WIND ON  HIS BACK not a bad plan when you have no cab and only peddles for steam.
