Black bear in Manitoba

Black bear management for Big Bruins has been Manitoba’s Goal

Over many years of hunting our large bodied Old bears we hold a status of Large Bc scores in Canada.  Have you had the opportunity of harvesting a B&C bear?

Outfitters and residents are proud of the quality of animals we have in the province to harvest allowing hunters from Manitoba or around the world to reap the success..  The low pressure and quantity of food allows for bears to mature and with age the large Skull measurement to give result in management.

Elusive Bruins in the Rut, and unskilled hunters give these big Colored bears the opportunity to stay alive and grow to 18-22 bc with ages of 10-25 years.   Where food sources are great weights rise fast cause they forage on abundance alphafa fields bordering the RMNP. Over all the bear is a grazer during summer months in agricultural Manitoba however when the last of the year  by mid September  they start on good layers of fat the good crops of ferries and acorns

I shot a Wolf in Manitoba

Wolf hunting in Manitoba many years ago it was not unheard of to see a wolf roaming threw a whitetail area of Manitoba

Have you ever had the opportunity to put the scope to a Wolf?

Wow what a rush! something I didnt know I would ever have chance to do.   While sitting in a Deer stand back in 2000 after our deer hunt was over. I was seeing a lot of tracks during the deer season and thought Id take a day and see what I could see.  Well -20F clear evening,  just a dusk that evening off in the distance the wolves were calling,  I was enjoying the scenes and saw a movement off to the right in the distance.

Patiently not moving a muscle just minutes later Wow there is a Wolf, because of earlier movement I was prepared and I squeezed the trigger of my 250 and down he went not another step… my heart beating so fast.  Out of the blind and down to see the trophy I had just harvested…   In Manitoba a Resident does not need a special license but a trapping license or an open Big Game tag which I had not shot a deer earlier…

now the long trek back to the truck up out of the valley but the adrenaline still pumping got the job done..

Wow what a Rush!!

Then the next Rush begins.

Llooking for the bear  its almost dark.    Wow there it is, Chris has no problem locating it about 60 yards from the bait, huge trees laying down it was a jungle back there.. A tarp to wrap it in and start to Tug!

Jess blasts

Women are True Marksmen    Women hunters are a pleasure to guide during a Black Bear hunt.. Precision is a must, a good kill is a priority. Jess is a seasoned hunter looking for a big Bucket head in 2018.  Nicole is amazed how a snap of a twig and he was standing in the site, and she waited for a good shot.  Safety off and deep breathe and she pulls the trigger.

Big Grass has guided many Ladies in camp and we make special plans if we have booked a Lady.  The anticipation of a bear entering the site shows on a ladies face by the width of the smile when you arrive after the Bear is dead. Detail is ignited with the replay when telling the story of her hunt.  Lady hunters young and old are always welcome to Camp.

Animals of Big Grass

squirrel days

top of the tree to you all!

Sammy's ball

will you play with me?

Chessys dont share

I dont share

We pass the winter keeping busy with the Big Grass Animals. Wild animals need to be fed during Cold winters, HOWEVER we dont consider red Squirrels part of this family… Our Log Cabins suffer if a red quirrel chooses to locate his home into a Cabin. So standing rule:Dont show your face close to house or cabins or the 410 will blast you from that tree! yep it did…   over the years many red squirrels have not lived to tell tale…

Sammy Jo continues to bring the ball, frozen lump of snow or a stick for you to throw.. IN the house or outside she has something to throw.. I always wanted a dog to bring me a stick, Help please have her only retreive 1/2 a day! She’s Judys dog,  not spoiled lol, decently behaved, loves to play, and runs like a crazy after a ball or anything.

The Male Chessy of the House Copper! a True Male, spoiled, does the Chessy walk um Im not sure if I want to do that, thinks he should get what he wants.  But hes a great retreiver, lots of go, strong body, and will work hard in the field this fall.
