California goose hunting

Our friend Jason who lives in California sends a few pics of his hunting… Who would thing this was hunting season with temps in the 75F, Good goose hunting is always 40F its hard to understand location and seasons.  Worst thing is the south gets all these good plummed birds and awesome colors and we see the poor off colored ones but they still make good jerky and are a whale of a time of whackin and stacking…  our season runs end of September threw till 21 of October is when Big Grass is in the field doing our thing..

Manitoba Black Bearhunting

Jeff H returns May 2018 to take a colored bear is what was planned.   Bears are not planners when we are hunting….. They arrive if they are hungry and if there is what they want at the barrel… After sticking this great bear with his easton arrow and the skull went to the beetles.   it came back as 17 3/16 just short of Boone and Crocket bear score here in Manitoba… But still a great bear.. His other 2 bears 18 8/16 and 20 1/16 if they’d been taken with his bow they’d made book….. Anyway what a great trophy black bear Jeff harvested in May 2018

Black bear in Manitoba

Black bear management for Big Bruins has been Manitoba’s Goal

Over many years of hunting our large bodied Old bears we hold a status of Large Bc scores in Canada.  Have you had the opportunity of harvesting a B&C bear?

Outfitters and residents are proud of the quality of animals we have in the province to harvest allowing hunters from Manitoba or around the world to reap the success..  The low pressure and quantity of food allows for bears to mature and with age the large Skull measurement to give result in management.

Elusive Bruins in the Rut, and unskilled hunters give these big Colored bears the opportunity to stay alive and grow to 18-22 bc with ages of 10-25 years.   Where food sources are great weights rise fast cause they forage on abundance alphafa fields bordering the RMNP. Over all the bear is a grazer during summer months in agricultural Manitoba however when the last of the year  by mid September  they start on good layers of fat the good crops of ferries and acorns

I shot a Wolf in Manitoba

Wolf hunting in Manitoba many years ago it was not unheard of to see a wolf roaming threw a whitetail area of Manitoba

Have you ever had the opportunity to put the scope to a Wolf?

Wow what a rush! something I didnt know I would ever have chance to do.   While sitting in a Deer stand back in 2000 after our deer hunt was over. I was seeing a lot of tracks during the deer season and thought Id take a day and see what I could see.  Well -20F clear evening,  just a dusk that evening off in the distance the wolves were calling,  I was enjoying the scenes and saw a movement off to the right in the distance.

Patiently not moving a muscle just minutes later Wow there is a Wolf, because of earlier movement I was prepared and I squeezed the trigger of my 250 and down he went not another step… my heart beating so fast.  Out of the blind and down to see the trophy I had just harvested…   In Manitoba a Resident does not need a special license but a trapping license or an open Big Game tag which I had not shot a deer earlier…

now the long trek back to the truck up out of the valley but the adrenaline still pumping got the job done..

TBT Manitoba Bear hunting 2014

Have you heard of North America Hunting Club?

In 2004 NAHC and Big Grass partnered with a Life  Member hunt. 8 Life members came to camp and had the opportunity of harvesting a Black Bear.   Over 50% colorphase was harvested that week..

Good shooting with Rifles and Bows make the pic taking a Plus.  Lots of  field pictures and happenings while in camp made memories to  last a life time. Along with hunting bear we hunted with the bow and 17Hmr  gophers which are small prairie dogs in agricultural land in Manitoba.

The group photo of this monster Colorphase bear was the highlight of the group,  Jim took it with his 30-06 in a new stand and area we had not hunted much..  This was a real marketing photo for years to come.

Manitoba Whitetail

Have you had time to spend some time in the outdoors to harvest a Whitetail Buck?

Tom is home and has the opportunity t spend a little time doing some deer hunting.  With his 300 tika 3  he nails this nice Buck.

Home made deer sausage, pepperoni, and jerky will taste pretty good doing some ice fishing this winter..

Lest we forget

Take time to remember our fallen Heros
